solar eclipse
With everybody posting such nice pictures of the total solar eclipse this morning, what I can do is only an interpretation from my capture. Batam didn’t get the luxury to watch the the total eclipse, instead we were presented only with a partial one. It was cloudy and windy this morning, and every now and then process was covered by clouds. This particular frame was executed just when the clouds were moving away from the sun.
The original picture was converted to HDR effect in Photomatix, and then subjected to TopazLabs Clean and the amazing TopazLabs Glow.

barelang, bird’s eye view
One fine day, a lucky seat, and good weather (albeit cloudy). And snapped, got this frame on my way back to Batam (on the lower left of the frame).
The term Barelang stands for Batam-Rempang-Galang islands bridge interconnection created by Habibie. From the total of 5 bridges connecting 6 islands, the first bridge has become the icon of Batam. Officially named Fisabilillah bridge, it is the only suspension bridge here, with a total length of 642m connecting Batam and Tonton islands. In this picture we can still see Narasinga bridge, the second bridge, connecting Tonton and Nipah islands.
Notice the patchy bald brown areas? That is typical in this region, where environmentally unfriendly land clearing leads to erosion and shallowing of the river mouth and sea.

You’ve seen Jakarta 262m above the ground during daylight. This frame was shot around 18:20 local time, almost one hour later. It’s a composite of 5 individual frames shot with -2 stop to +2 stop shutter speed bracketing, with 1 stop intervals. Enjoy the view and have a great week ahead!
