Here we are again at the relics of St. paul’s Church in Malacca, Malaysia. As I mentioned in an earlier post, this place looks like it is abandoned by the government. Not only will we encounter vandalism on the inner walls, but also one street vendor selling postcards and paints leisurely sitting inside, displaying his items against the tombstones. To top those up, there are no restrictions, we can do pretty much whatever we subjectively deem appropriate to a decaying great historical artefact.
For what it’s worth, here are some wide angle frames from the place. Thank you for stopping by and have a good weekend!

Even in the quietest moments
I wish I knew what I had to do
And even though the sun is shining
Well, I feel the rain, here it comes again, dear
The music that you gave me
The language of my soul
Oh Lord, I wanna be with you
Won’t you let me come in from the cold?

A view from within the ruin of St. Paul’s Church, Malacca, Malaysia. Built in 1521 by the Portuguese as a chapel, it was enlarged a few times and became a church. One of the many historical ruins here, alas neglected by the government. Vandalism is very notable on most of the inner walls.

I found Family Fresh Cooking by Marla Meridith through twitter. Last September she initiated project lunch box, a 30 days challenge of sharing healthy recipes for a healthy lunch box. The project on her blog inspired me, so last Sunday in the evening I tried creating a menu for my daughter to bring to school Monday.

If it wasn’t for a rendezvous with Diah and Christian and their fabulous kids at Cilandak Town Square (a.k.a Citos) Jakarta, I would not have known the long graffiti in front of the mall. Diah told me that those were purposely made by organizers. Later I found out that on the eve before 9 July 2010 13 artists, of which 6 were Paris based, worked their artistic skills decorating the wall.

This used to be my playground. This crowded, hectic bus terminal in Blok M, Jakarta. I used to go here every saturday after school… in the late seventies and eighties. And while a number of things have changed since then (like that flyover that is being built), quite a few have remained the same.

I ask for a moment’s indulgence to sit by thy side. The works
that I have in hand I will finish afterwards.
Away from the sight of thy face my heart knows no rest nor respite,
and my work becomes an endless toil in a shoreless sea of toil.
Today the summer has come at my window with its sighs and murmurs; and
the bees are plying their minstrelsy at the court of the flowering grove.
Now it is time to sit quite, face to face with thee, and to sing
dedication of life in this silent and overflowing leisure.

If you are in Singapore and are tired of shopping, stroll into the National Museum. Originally built in 1887, it is now a mixture of neo-classical and modern architecture, covering a huge area of 18,400 square meters.
One of many things that amazed me when entering the building was the rotunda’s dome, with its Victorian style stained glass panels. There are a total of 50 beautiful curved panels encircling the dome.

I took the above picture handheld, bracketed down with 1 stop decrement to -2 stops. The shutter-speed written is from the -1 stop frame. Alignment was greatly improved by using 7D’s built-in electronic level. Oh, and holding down breath while shooting with high-speed continuous for the three frames to minimize position shift also helped a lot.

Thank you for stopping by and have a great week ahead!
